Why Lejan?
Barefoot shoes are designed to reproduce the sensation of walking barefoot. Thanks to this, it favors a biomechanical gait without movement restrictions, helping to strengthen the musculature, balance and posture, which translates into optimal foot development.
At Lejan, we have taken this concept a step further, combining functionality, design and contemporary style. Our models not only take care of the health of the foot, but also accompany the day to day with personality and comfort.
In addition, all our footwear is developed and endorsed by the children's podiatrist Alejandro Martinez (lejancitos) with collegiate number: 838300274.
Barefoot Properties
Thin sole and with Lejancitos gestito: Transmissibility
Through the sole of the foot we receive numerous stimuli that provide information to the brain, which is a way of "training" it. Hence the importance of good sensory feedback.
The combination of a thin sole (3.8mm thick), maximum flexibility in all directions and the " Lejancitos gestito", allows you to perceive every pressure point that the foot receives when walking.
This allows us to develop skills such as proprioception, that is, our brain has an accurate perception of how the parts of the body are located in space.
Foot shape: Freedom
One of the most important levers when walking is through the first toe. That is why it is important to maintain the alignment of this toe and avoid shoes with narrow toe caps that divert its trajectory inward.
On the other hand, narrow toe boxes "crowd" all the toes, preventing a good distribution of pressure in the forefoot area and may affect the way our little one walks.
Therefore, Lejan has a toe cap that allows for natural toe movement.
Natural posture: Flat sole
The "Drop" is the elevation in height of the rear area of the shoe, which acts as a mini "heel". Using drop alters the natural way of walking of the little one, bringing forward the center of pressures and causing a redistribution of the loads of the foot that is not natural.
Drop 0 means that there is no height difference, and the drop number refers to the height of that "little heel" in millimeters. Lejan maintains a Drop 0, achieving the sensation that wearing our shoes is like walking barefoot.
Flexibility: Adaptation
A good flexibility of the sole will allow the foot to perform the movement of the 33 joints of the foot, allowing it to work in a natural way and thus strengthening its musculature.
Lejan allows the most important movement, through the metatarsal area (essential when taking the foot off the ground and in the activation of the plantar fascia). In addition, it does so in torsion and in all directions. We don't want there to be a single range of motion that you can't do with your Lejan, so you can stimulate the whole foot, as if you were walking barefoot.
Non-existent buttress
A newborn baby' s head droops because it does not have the strength in its neck to hold it up. However, we are aware that, as it grows, it will gain strength and eventually hold its head up on its own.
Something similar happens with the foot. It is normal to have a flat and valgus foot in the first years of life, but as that foot receives stimuli, it will strengthen and "straighten" on its own.
Removable insole: Correct size
Although here you can see how to always get your little one's foot size right, we can also use the removable insole to check in person that the shoe fits.
To do this, we put the foot of the little one on top and we must make sure that, from the longest toe to the end of the insole there is a space of approximately 1cm (0.8-1.2cm).
Remember that when there is 0.5cm or less left we should change size.
